I'm planning to go to UMASS Amherst in the Fall as an incoming freshman. I already have federal aid (I did the FAFSA already) and aid from the college. I still need about $9,000 for the first semester. UMASS has a monthly payment plan available and the first payment would be due by August 15, which would be about $2,400. Am I too late to get a loan? And would I have to pay interest on it while I'm still in college?
