What are the legal responsibilities of a spouse wrt housing in Maryland?
Working adult, with minor child (11) marries working adult 3 states away after very brief Internet romance. She moves in with him, after 1 year, things sour, prior to 2 year mark, they "separate." He owns the house, but he moved out. She never made any mortgage payments. Does he have to continue to either make payments or own the home? Can he just sell it? Require her to pay mortgage on her own? There is no "money" in this marriage, day-to-day living, she has been working throughout, even if not thriving. The 'she' in this story is under the impression that in MD, he is required to 'support' her for 12 months of separation - at what level if so required? Anyone know MD law here?
