I was getting a check monthly after my mom passed away much to my surprised it stopped in april can i sue ?

I was the beneficiary the money was her retirement whenever I needed to verify that I received it the bank gave me a document that stated my name ,s.s.# address,amount of check and the date the payments would end entered in that space was the word LIFE.April1st I went to withdraw some money and to my surprise there wasn't any .The bank gave me the telephone # to the place that paid that money out at which time I was told that it was only for 10 years .Turns out the bank had me mixed up with my mom now I HAVE NO INCOME.Can I take legal action?
