How bad is my bed bug infestation?

4 days ago i woke up with a horrible itch on my thighs, and found blood smears over my sheet and when i looked closely i found a little dead squished bed bug. I was bit twice around the thighs, i didnt know it was a bed bug but being bit a second time (i didnt notice this) on the ear the next night I decided to do some research and figured it was bed bugs. Ever since i found out ididn't sleep in my room because i am a food source that they and i think they can thrive of me. I have never been bit before this or i dont think i have. How bad is my infestation right now I know i already killed one. I want to prevent these things from spreading How do i catch and trap these things Is there any way i can try to get rid of them before i get a exterminator cause my town probably got none and it would be a pain to call someone up.
