Should i stay home or go away to continue college?

Ill be starting my fourth semester this fall and will be graduating in december from my community college, but my dad wants me to stay near home and continue with my education. The problem is i would like to transfer to another college but nowhere near home. My dad says it will be much cheaper since i won't have to pay for room and board but i really want to experience going away. Do you think he is right or is it a good idea to leave?
